Cancer Research Institute - Designer Show House, Manhattan
Concrete, Steel and Glass
This compact guest bath completed for a charity designer showhouse was widely published and received much recognition for innovative representation of materials. The owners stipulated that we update the bathroom to be fully functional and current yet compatible with the original turn of 20th century style of the house. When we first saw the room, it was very depressing, obviously last renovated in the 1950s with dusty pink peach fixtures and tiles. In desperate need of a face lift we completely transformed this space using concrete, steel and glass as essential elements selected for their reference to the urban landscape – custom molded to fit the space. Hemp, straw and natural bath products enhance an organic aesthetic.
