Voted No.1, The King of all New York Blocks by Time Out Magazine, this South Portland Ave stretch in Ft Greene is truly the place to live! This fabulous triplex townhouse is the perfect blend of old and new. Flowing proportions and mint original detail mesh perfectly with a stunning new chef’s kitchen, newly landscaped garden, deck, and updated baths.

“Ornate plaster moldings painted yellow-green are something you don’t see every day, but interior designer David Kaplan went all out with color in decorating this circa-1900 Fort Greene brownstone for a young family. “I’ll do neutral or monochromatic schemes for more timid clients, but I really had a good time here,” the Manhattan-based designer said.”

Having been raised there, one of the clients already had a special connection to the house but they enlisted our professional help to make it more relevant to a 21st century cosmopolitan lifestyle. We updated the home with some space modifications and custom storage solutions while preserving and emphasizing original moldings and architectural details. The kitchen was re-designed for improved functionality, to accommodate a growing family and love of cooking. A new mosaic tiled onyx fireplace surround in the living/dining room, glam light fixtures plus a combination of inherited art & antiques, restored/reupholstered and new furnishings throughout create a beautifully blended style: a mix of traditional, transitional, and mid-century modern.
